City may see more wayfinding signage

PIQUA — The city is seeking to continue its wayfinding signage project, as the Piqua City Commission will be considering awarding a contract for the second phase of the project during their meeting.

The commission will then vote on awarding a contract to Outdoor Enterprises for the Wayfinding Program at a budgeted cost of $580,000, which includes a contingency and will be budgeted for 2018 and 2019.

The Wayfinding Program is a system of signage that includes primary and secondary directional and information signs, facility and park identification signs, and community gateway signs, according to the staff report. Phase one includes the downtown area, and phase two will include the fabrication and installation of directional signs citywide as well as facility, park, and gateway signs and identification.

The funding for this project is coming from various city department funds, including streets and public works, water, wastewater, election, the municipal government complex, the fire training center, parks, and the municipal airport.

If approved, the project would begin this year, with an anticipated completion in June 2019.
