Cost of Doing Business

The City of Piqua and the Dayton Region benefit from a lower-cost business climate.  Ohio ranked 3rd for new businesses and 5th for mature businesses for lowest corporate tax burdens.

Ohio has no corporate income tax, no taxes on personal property and no tax on sales outside of the state,  In fact, the 2012 report Location Matters: A Comparative Analysis of State Tax Costs on Business by KPMG and the Tax Foundation ranked Ohio 3rd best for new businesses and 5th best for mature businesses.  The low tax burden maximizes ROI over the life of your investment.

Additionally, the Dayton region also benefits from a low cost of living. According to data by the Bureau of Economic Analysis, Ohio is a low-price state. In Ohio, $100 will buy you stuff that would cost $111.98 in a state at the national average price level. You could think of this as meaning that Ohioans are, for the purposes of day-to-day living, 11 percent richer than their incomes suggest.  This provides a competitive advantage for wage rates and workforce attraction.

Piqua also has advantages for businesses looking to locate or expand in the community. From affordable land and buildings to our low-cost Piqua Muncipal Power System, businesses large and small can invest in the community with confidence. A recent study by the Piqua Municipal Power System found commerical and industrial customers in the community benefit from rates around 20% less than those customers served by investor-owned utilities.
